The USS Idaho SSN 799 will soon be sailing the world and its commissioning committee is seeking photography from the Gem State to be displayed in the ship's interior.

The committee wants the interior of the submarine to reflect the beauty, culture and spirit of Idaho for the crew and its visitors as it pulls into numerous ports to host heads of state and dignitaries, according to a press release.

Submissions should be in digital form as the committee will be selecting 200 to 300 photographs to be used in an electronic "Here We Have Idaho" video presentation for the crew and visitors on monitors throughout the ship. An additional 20 to 30 will be printed and mounted in frames or vinyl murals in the interior. Those physically mounted will credit the photographer and name the Idaho area/landmark.

There will be one large mural, approximately five feet tall and 18 feet long, two smaller murals of three feet by 10 feet long and 20 to 30 in various sizes.

Photos will be accepted from Monday, May 26 to Thursday, July 31.

The submarine was christened in March of 2024 with a special champagne-type bottle that was filled with water from several Idaho lakes. The next phase is sea trials, which will demonstrate the operations and will then be turned over to the U.S. Navy in a private ceremony. From there, the submarine will go wherever needed, according to the USS Idaho Commissioning Committee.
