Commissioning Information Update

The Commissioning of the future USS IDAHO SSN 799 will be in 2026 at Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton Connecticut.

Once the U.S. Navy provides the Commissioning Date, the Commissioning Committee will post on our website a form to request tickets to attend. This information will be turn over to the U.S. Navy who will conduct a security screening and will decide, based on capacity, who will receive tickets.

While there is no cost to attend the ceremony, the U.S. Navy has the final decision on who will be granted access onto the submarine base to attend.

We recommend signing up for our newsletter to get the most recent updates and to be on email list for the Commissioning Date announcement.

The formal commissioning ceremony will be held on a Saturday and will be approximately 1hr and 30 minutes, followed by a reception that is open to all attendees. Depending on security conditions there may be an opportunity to tour the submarine after the formal ceremony.

For our VIP Supporters ($2,500+) and Submarine Veterans, the Commissioning Committee is planning additional events on the Thursday and Friday prior the Saturday Commissioning.

There are several attractions in the immediate area to include the Naval Submarine Force Museum, Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park and Mystic Historic Seaport Village to name a few.
