America’s Sagebrush Navy explores the creation of the Nuclear Navy in the desert of Idaho and tells the story of the future USS IDAHO SSN 799 submarine. In case you missed the premier broadcast of America's Sagebrush Navy on Idaho Public Television, you can watch it here: https://www.pbs.org/video/ americas-sagebrush-navy- xyk7lv/ Idaho Public Television has been an incredible partner to the USS IDAHO Commissioning Committee. We congratulate them on this wonderful documentary! In the late 1940’s, Captain Hyman G. Rickover oversaw the creation of three prototype reactors in Idaho. Those reactors would be the test bed for the world’s first nuclear submarine and aircraft carrier. America’s Sagebrush Navy tells the story of the creation of the Nuclear Navy and how it changed America’s influence on a world stage.
